TC Energy cuts 1000 jobs

TC Energy Corporation has let go 1,000 workers in both the United States and Canada after President Joe Biden canceled the Keystone XL oil pipeline project.

"More than a thousand are unionized workers who continue to build on both sides of the border," said Terry Cunha, a spokesman for the Calgary-based firm.

Within hours of taking office on Wednesday, Biden revoked permission to build the pipeline. Construction of the pipeline, which would transport more than 600,000 barrels of crude oil and sand a day from Alberta to Nebraska, had already begun last year after the Alberta government began investing প্রকল্প 1.1 billion in the project.

Exactly one year after the project was rejected for environmental reasons, the first proposed more than a decade ago was controversial, the border plumbing was approved in 2017 by President Donald Trump.
