Gonoshasthaya gets govt's approval for COVID-19 antibody kit trial

Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) on Thursday got the approval for trial of its COVID-19 antibody kit from the Bangladesh Medical Research Council (BMRC).

GK founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury confirmed the matter.

Without giving any date, he said that the trial would be held at ICDDR,B.

"The trial might begin within a week," he said.

Earlier, a trial of the kit was held at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in June.

The government authorities did not approve the kit for its use, citing the result as inconclusive.

GK developed the low-cost kit shortly after Bangladesh confirmed the first case of COVID-19 virus infection in March.
