Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Wednesday asked the law enforcement agencies to be tough to control drug smuggling.
"Apart from their willingness, law enforcement agencies are taking toughest action and to continuing their initiatives to curb drug smuggling," he said.
The minister said this while destroying a large quantity of seized drugs at the BGB's Cox's Bazar Region headquarters.
The destroyed drugs were recovered in different drives in last three years. BGB recovered a total of 3.16 crore Yaba tablets, 5,799 bottles of liquor, 33,555 beer cans, 1,736 litres of liquor, 15.73 Kgs hemp, 18,750 Sedil tablets, and 500 strips of Zolium tablets.
Inspector general (IG) of Police Benajir Ahmed was present at the programme where BGB Cox's Bazar Region Commander Brigadier General Md Sajedur Rahman gave welcome speech.
Later, the Home Minister inaugurated the newly established 'Eidgaon Police Station' at Eidgaon area of Sadar in the district.
