The Indian government will send 20 lakh doses of coronavirus vaccine to Bangladesh on January 20, said Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam, director general of DGHS on Monday.
The vaccines are gift to Bangladesh from India, said Dr Khurshid.
“The Indian government sent a letter to Bangladesh regarding the gift of vaccines. They will provide 20 lakh doses of Oxford-Astrazenca Covid-19 vaccines and these vaccines are supposed to come on January 20,” he added.
Earlier, Health Minister Zahid Maleque at a programme in Dhaka said India will give a good number of vaccines to Bangladesh as gift.
The first shipment of AstraZeneca-Oxford virus vaccine, manufactured by Serum Institute of India, is likely to arrive in the country within January 25-26.
