Hilali's namaj-e-janaza held at Press Club
The namaj-e-janaza Hilali Wadud Chowdhury, senior sub-editor of the Daily Bhorer Kagoj, was held on the premises of National Press Club in Dhaka on Friday noon.
Journalists, members of Dhaka Sub Editors’ Council and colleagues of the Daily Bhorer Kagoj joined the namaj-e-janaza.
Later, well-wishers, friends and journalists from different media houses paid their last tribute to the journalist.
Chowdhury, a president candidate of Dhaka Sub Editors’ Council (DSEC) election and member of Jatiya Press Club (JPC), died of cardiac arrest at a hospital in the city in the morning.
Family members said he felt severe chest pain while leaving home for the press club to attend the annual general meeting of the DSEC. Chowdhury was immediately taken to Khidmah Hospital in Malibagh around 9:30am where he was declared dead.
The journalist left behind wife, a daughter and host of relatives to mourn his death.
He will be buried at his family graveyard in Domar of Nilphamari district on Saturday morning, according to the deceased's family members.
President of the National Press Club Farida Yasmin and General Secretary Elias Khan and President of the Dhaka Sub Editors' Council Zakir Hossain Emon and its General Secretary Muktadir Anik have expressed their condolences over the demise of Hilali Wadud Chowdhury.
