 PK Halder's girlfriend detained The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) detained Abantika Boral, girlfriend of Prashanta Kumar Halder alias PK Halder, on Wednesday from the capital's Dhanmondi area. A team of the anti-graft body led by its deputy director Md Salauddin detained her, the ACC's Public Relation officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya. According to the allegation, PK Halder made his relatives independent director of some Leasing companies and embezzled money from People's Leasing And Financial Services Limited and several financial agencies. The ACC on January 8 last year filed a case against PK Halder for accumulating illegal wealth of Tk 275 crore. PK Halder is accused of embezzling Tk 1,500 crore from the International Leasing and Financial Services Ltd. He has also allegedly embezzled Tk 3,500 crore from several other financial agencies. On December 1, last year, a Dhaka Court issued a warrant of arrest against former Managing Director of NRB Global Bank and Reliance Finance PK Halder. Meanwhile, the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) issued a red alert on January 8 to arrest Prashanta Kumar Halder. TF |
