Meanwhile, the country's infection number stands at 5,18,898 with 978 more positive cases.
The Directorate General of Health Services (
DGHS) confirmed the matter through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS, this afternoon.
Health authorities also reported 1,021 more recoveries over the preceding 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 4,63,480.
In the last 24 hours, 181 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 15,689 samples and tested 15,544.
With this, a total of 33,02,429 samples were tested in the country.
Among the newly deceased, 15 were men and the rest two were women. Of them, nine are from
Dhaka, two from
Chattogram,
Rajshahi and
Rangpur divisions each, and one from
Khulna and
Mymensingh divisions each. All of them died at the hospitals.
The infection rate is 6.29 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested, while the overall infection rate is 15.71 per cent.
So far, the recovery rate is 89.32 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.48 per cent.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 and the first death on March 18.
According to Worldometer's COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 18,78,473 people globally and infected 8,69,46,720 as of today afternoon.
