Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam on Tuesday said all buildings, which have been constructed without RAJUK’s approval, will be demolished.

The mayor said this while inspecting the eviction drive of illegal establishments conducted by RAJUK on both sides of the road from Vashantek Bazar to Pocket Gate in the capital, said a press release, reports BSS.

During the visit, Atiqul said buildings constructed illegally will be abolished.

He said, “Though RAJUK kept a provision of 20 feet space in the middle of the road between Matikata to Vashantek area; but the construction work did not comply with the RAJUK’s plan. The building owners on both sides of the road had occupied a few feet of the road while constructing the buildings.”

For this, traffic-jam is created in this area every day and it takes a long time to cross this road, he added.

Atiq added, “As per request of the local people and public representatives of the area, we have decided to widen the road. If this road is widened, people will enjoy its benefits.”

Among others, Chief Executive Officer of DNCC Md Selim Reza, Chief Waste Management Officer of DNCC Commodore M Saidur Rahman, Ward Councilor Salek Molla and Md Matiur Rahman, were also present during the visit.
