Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday questioned Moher Uddin Sheikh, deputy director (Personalization Center) of the Department of Immigration and Passports, on charge of accumulating illegal wealth through graft at passport office.
A team led by ACC deputy director Abu Bakar Siddiqui questioned Moher Uddin Sheikh. However, he denied allegation of accumulating wealth during the questioning, the ACC sources said.
The ACC has launched an investigation against a number of senior officials of the Department of Immigration and Passports following an allegation that an Indian citizen was given forged passport in exchange of bribe in Rajshahi recently.
In sequel to the allegation, the anti-graft body launched an investigation against Moher Uddin Sheikh and his wife Halima Khatun Shampa, who is also working as deputy director (Data Center, Central Demographic Module) at the Department of Immigration and Passports, Head Office, Dhaka.
