Covid certificate scam: Dr Sabrina denied bail

The High Court has denied bail to JKG Healthcare Chairperson Dr Sabrina Sharmin Hussain in a case filed over issuing fake Covid-19 test reports and related fraud.

The bench of Justice Sheikh Md Zakir Hossain and Justice KM Zahid Sarwar dismissed the bail plea on the grounds that it was not properly presented.

Advocate Syed Mamun Mahbub stood for the petitioner while Deputy Attorney General Md Monirul Islam represented the state.

The case is currently being heard by the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court.

Police arrested Sabrina on July 12. She’s in jail in a case filed over issuing fake Covid-19 certificates.

JKG Healthcare reportedly provided 27,000 coronavirus reports without following proper test procedures while most of them turned out to be fake.

On August 20, a Dhaka court framed charges against Sabrina and seven others in the case.
