Deceased Md Shakil, 17, was the son of Jasim Uddin, a resident of Jamidarhat colony in Begumganj upazila of the district. He was an urchin boy.

Local sources said he lived with his parents and used to collect bottles and old accessories from the street.

He went out of home on Monday morning and did not return home since then.

Other urchin boys spotted his floating body in Chhamirmunsirhat canal this morning.

Informed by locals, police went to the spot and recovered the body, said Senbag Police Station officer in-charge (OC) Abdul Baten Mridha.

The body was sent to Noakhali General Hospital morgue, he added.
