President, PM mourn

Actor Abdul Kader is no more

Noted actor Abdul Kader passed away at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on Saturday morning.

He was 69.

Actor Kader breathed his last around 8:20am at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital, said chief medical officer Dr Arif Mahmud.

Kader had been suffering from pancreatic cancer.

He had been taken to Chennai on December 8 for better treatment. From there, he returned home on December 20. He tested positive for COVID-19 on December 21. Since then he had been undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Kader left behind wife, a son , a daughter and host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock at the death of the popular actor. 

In a condolence message, the President prayed for the salvation of the soul of  Kader and conveyed his deepest sympathy to his bereaved family.

The Prime Minister, in another condolence message, said Abdul Kader will live in the hearts of people for his spontaneous acting.

She prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.

Abdul Kader will be buried at Banani Graveyard this evening.

He became popular playing the role of 'Bodi' in Humayun Ahmed’s drama series 'Kothao Keu Nei' in the ‘90s. He acted in films--'Wrong Number', 'Bhalobasha Jindabad' and others.
