A pedestrian was run over by a truck at Begumganj upazila in Noakhali district on Sunday afternoon.

Deceased Sohag, 22, was the son of late Selim, a resident of Jirtali area in the upazila.

Witnesses said a sand-laden truck ran over Sohag after its driver lost control over its steering in Kalikapur area on the Noakhali-Laxmipur highway around 1 pm, leaving him dead on the spot.

Begumganj Police Station officer in-charge (OC) Muhammad Kamruzzaman confirmed the matter.
