HC orders confiscation of Col Oli’s book

The High Court on Tuesday ordered the authorities concerned to confiscate a book titled ‘Rashtra Biplab Samarik Bahinir Sadoysabinda Abong Bangladesher Muktijoddha’ written by Liberal Democratic Party President Col (retd) Oli Ahmed.

The HC bench of Justice Md Khasruzzaman and Justice Md Mahmud Hasan Talukder pronounced the order, lawyer Shah Manzurul Haque told BSS.

He said distorting the country’s history, Ziaur Rahman was mentioned as the first president in the book and that is why the court ordered confiscation of this book.

At the same time, the HC ordered to block the YouTube content of Kanak Sarwar, a journalist living abroad, as it broadcast an interview of Colonel (retd) Oli Ahmed, distorting the country’s history.

The court orders came after hearing a writ petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer Imtiaz Uddin Ahmed Asif.

Lawyer Shah Manzurul Haque stood for the writ petitioner.
