COVID-19: 35 deaths, 1,888 cases reported in 24 hrs

Bangladesh on Saturday reported 35 more deaths and 1,888 fresh cases from coronavirus in last 24 hour.
The death toll from the deadly virus reached 6,807 and total virus cases now stands at 4,75,889.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS, on Saturday afternoon.
Health authorities also reported 2,457 more recoveries in a day, taking the total number of recoveries to 3,93,408.
Among the newly deceased, 23 were men and 12 women. As of today, a total of 5,207men (76.49 per cent) and 1,600 women (23.51 per cent) died from COVID-19 in Bangladesh.
In the last 24 hours, 118 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 13,199 samples and tested 13,540 samples.
With this, a total of 28,49,951 samples were tested in the country.
The infection rate is 13.94 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested while the overall infection rate is 16.70 per cent.
So far, the recovery rate is 82.67 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.43 per cent.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 and the first death on March 18.
According to Worldometer's COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 15,26,835 people globally and infected 6,63,37,661 as of Saturday afternoon.
