A group of protesters without the banner of any organisation chanted slogans against the creation of sculptures at Baitul Mukarram Mosque premises after Juma prayer on Friday.
They tried to bring out a procession, but police obstructed them to proceed further.

When the procession reached the Paltan crossing parading from Baitul Mukarram Mosque premises, police charged batons and dispersed the protesters. At that time, the protesters chanted slogans in favour of Hefazat-e-Islam leader Mamunul Huq's anti-sculpture stand.
Police said the law enforcers adopted a strict position for the safety and security of people.

DMP Motijheel Division Additional Deputy Commissioner Enamul Huque said that the protesters tried to bring out a procession without obtaining permission from the police.
