A court in Khagrachhari on Thursday convicted a woman alongwith her four associates and sentenced them to death for killing her husband in 2016.
The condemn convicts are Rabeya Akhter, 35, Saiful Islam, 24, Md Firoz, 28, Md Abul Kalam, 22, and Md Abul Asad alias Mithu, 20.
Khagrachhari District and Sessions Judge Reza Md Alamgir handed down the verdict while all of them except Mithu were present in the dock.
The court also fined them Tk 5,000 each, public prosecutor (PP) Bidhan Kanungo confirmed.
According to the prosecution , Rabeya hired goons and killed her husband Mominul Haque at Rabindra Para under Guimara upazila in the district on February 5, 2016 over an extra-marital affair.
On the following day, Guimara Police Station recovered the body and filed a case in this connection.
The law enforcers submitted the charge sheet on September 5 in the same year.
After examining 12 witnesses and records, the judge delivered the verdict, the PP added.
