Medical student commits 'suicide'

A medical college student has reportedly committed suicide in Taltali upazila of Barguna district.

Deceased Sharmin Shyala, 22, was a student of a dental medical college in Dhaka. She was the daughter of Basir Uddin Forqan, a resident of Jakir Tabak village under Chhoto Bogi union in the upazila.

Local sources said Shayla's younger brother found the door of her locked from inside on Wednesday afternoon and did not find any response despite several times calling.

Later, the family members broke off the door open and found her hanging from the ceiling fan. She was rushed to Taltali Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor her declared dead.

Taltali Police Station officer in-charge Md Kamruzzaman Mia confirmed the matter.
