![]() Cheater falls prey to ‘love trap’, caught by police A fraudster, who swindled money of a bKash client from her account, was finally caught by police after falling in a ‘love trap’ set by her. Police arrested Hasan Khan, 19, and his associate Mahmud Hasan alias Bayezid, 19, at Laxmipur crossing in Rajshahi city on Sunday when they came to meet the victim from Bhanga upazila in Faridpur. The victim, a XII grader of a college in the city, befriended with Hasan with the suggestions of the Detective Branch of police in the city and talked to him. “The government is providing the scholarships through bKash account during this pandemic. Account holder must have Tk 50,000 in the account to get the scholarship,” he told the victim. Hasan then tricked the victim and took the pin number of the account. “Being trapped by fraud, the victim with her family members credited Tk 50,000 to the bKash account but the cheater lifted Tk 51,000 from it,” said the official. When the victim lodged complaint to police in this regard, deputy commissioner Al Mamun suggested her to contact the cheater from another mobile phone number and stage a drama of love with him to catch the man. As the girl started conversation with Hasan, the cheater soon falls in love with her. He finally agreed to meet with her at Laxmipur crossing in the city on Sunday after 12 days of their 'relationship'. Detectives, who had already taken position there in plain clothes, arrested two cheaters as soon as they appeared in the meeting place, said Al Mamun. Police also seized Tk 76,000 in cash from their possessions.
