Bangladesh on Sunday reported 29 more fatalities from COVID-19 in last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 6,609.

During this timeline, 1,788 fresh cases were reported, taking the total virus cases to 4,62,407.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS, on Sunday afternoon.

As many as 2,287 infected persons also made recovery during this period, taking the total recovery counts to 3,78,172.

In the last 24 hours, 118 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 13,864 samples and tested 13,737.

With this, a total of 27,57,329 samples were tested in the country.

Among the newly deceased, 23 were men and six were women.

The infection rate is 13.02 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested while the overall infection rate is 165.77 per cent.

So far, the recovery rate is 81.78 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.43 per cent.

Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 and the first death on March 18.
