Cox’s Bazar BCL leader hammered to death

A local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was hammered to death in Chakaria municipality of Cox’s Bazar district early Sunday.

Son of Abdur Rakib of Palakata village in the municipality, deceased Md Sohel Rana, 26, was the former joint convener of Chakaria Municipal unit BCL.

Relatives of the BCL leader claimed he was killed after local MP Jafar Alam's Personal Secretary Sohel called him out of home. But, police said the killing took place in a land-related clash.

Rana's uncle Farid alleged that Sohel called his nephew out of his house on Saturday night. He was taken to Bharamuhuri area in ward No. 4 where Rana was beaten dead around 1 am, he added.
