Burnt petrol pump worker dies at Dhaka hospital

A petrol pump worker, who received severely burn injuries as his co-worker set fire on him on November 24, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Dhaka early Saturday.

He died around 12:30am at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery where underwent treatment.

Dr Partha Sankar Paul, resident surgeon of the hospital, confirmed the news this morning.

Riad Hossain, 20, an employee of Salahuddin Filling Station at Shaympur area in Dhaka, had been admitted to the hospital with 40 per cent burn injuries soon after the incident.

Out of anger, a co-worker of Riyad, also an honours student at Siddheswari University College, poured petrol and set fire on him at the early hours of November 24 at the filling station.

Three people have, so far, been arrested following a case filed in this connection.
