16-day-campaign on violence against women begins in Pirojpur

A 16-day campaign on violence against women began on Wednesday in the district and it will last till December 10.

Different human rights based organizations organized various programme in the town to mark the campaign.

We can Bangladesh (Amrai Pari Paribarik Nirjaton Protirodh Jot) Pirojpur district unit formed a human chain at the district town road on Wednesday morning while Aparajita Project and Youth brigade also took part at the programme.

Bangladesh Mahila Parishad Pirojpur district committee organised a press conference at the organizational office in the town and Nari Nirapattha jot organised a discussion meeting at Purtan DC office in Pirojpur town.  

President of district Mahila Parishad Monika Mondal, general secretary Salma Rahman Happy, Journalists  Muniuzzman Nasim and Khaled Abu, NGO activist Md Rafiqual Islam Panna, Moinul Ahsan Munna and panel Mayor Minara Begum spoke at programmes.

A memorandum has been handed over to Deputy Commissioner Abu Ali Md Shazzad Hossain at his office demanding 9 point demand about stopping violence against women and children.
