Countdown to JU golden jubilee celebration starts

The countdown to the celebration of the 50th founding anniversary of Jahangirnagar University (JU) began on Tuesday at its campus.
The university will celebrate its 50th founding anniversary on January 12 next year.
JU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Farzana Islam inaugurated the countdown programme as the chief guest around 11:00am on Tuesday morning.
The countdown clock was set up at the central cafeteria premises of the university.
Conducted by Director of JU Teacher-Student Center (TSC) Professor Md. Alamgir Kabir, JU Pro- VC (Academic) Prof Dr Nurul Alam, Pro- VC (Administration) Prof. Dr. Amir Hossain and registrar, president of provost committee, deans of various faculties spoke at the programme, among others.
Besides, former and current students, officers, employees, and well-wishers of the university also joined the countdown programme online.
Mentionable, Jahangirnagar University was founded on August 20, 1970 which formally began its academic activities as a residential university on January 12, 1971 with four departments, 21 teachers, 150 students and three residential halls.
