The namaj-e-janaza of Khandaker Muniruzzaman, valiant freedom-fighter and acting editor of the Daily Sangbad, was held at Jatiya Press Club premises in Dhaka on Tuesday.
After the namaj-e-janaza, Khandaker Muniruzzaman was accorded a guard of honour on behalf of the Dhaka District Administration. He was scheduled to be buried at Martyred Intellectual Graveyard at Mirpur.
Khandaker Muniruzzaman died at about 7:20am at Mugda General Hospital in Dhaka being infected with novel coronavirus. He had been undergoint treatment at the hospital over the last 21 days.
During his namaj-e-janaza at Jatiya Press Club, Awami League, Information Minister, PIB, Press Council, Indian High Commission, bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists, Dhaka Union of Journalists, Jatiya Press Club, Editors Council, Dhaka Reporters Unity, Sangbad Family, Udichi, Sanmilito Samajik Andolon and Communist Party of Bangladesh paid him respect placing wreaths on his coffin.
Muniruzzaman became acting editor of the Daily Sangbad on January 4, 2010. He served the Daily Sangbad till his death.
President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Khandaker Muniruzzaman.
They prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
