Bangladesh on Sunday reported 38 more deaths from COVID-19 in last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 6,388.
During this timeline, 2,060 fresh cases were reported, taking the total caseload to 4,47,341.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS, on Sunday afternoon.
Health authorities also reported 2,076 more recoveries in a day, taking the total number of recoveries to 3,62,428.
There are 78,525 active COVID-19 cases across the country.
In the last 24 hours, 117 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 13,665 samples and tested 13,870 samples.
With this, a total of 26,49,072 samples were tested in the country.
Among the newly deceased, 28 were men and 10 were women. Of them, 28 are from Dhaka; three from Chittagong; two each from Khulna and Mymensingh; and one from Rajshahi, Rangpur and Barishal divisions respectively.
As of today, a total of 4,909 men (76.85 per cent) and 1,479 women (23.15 per cent) died from COVID-19 in Bangladesh.
The infection rate is 14.85 per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested while the overall infection rate is 16.89.
So far, the recovery rate is 81.02 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.43 per cent.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 and the first death on March 18.
According to Worldometer's COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 13,88,048 people globally and infected 5,85,87,582 as of Sunday afternoon.
