Bangladeshi killed in BSF firing on Kurigram border

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) early Saturday gunned down a Bangladesh national along Khatiamari border at Rowmari upazila in Kurigram district.

Deceased Fakir Chand, 28, was the son of Abul Hashem, a resident of Khatiamari village in the upazila.

Locals said a gang of drug traders including Fakir went to the border for smuggling drugs.

Then, the BSF members opened fire on them at about 2:00 am, leaving Fakir critically injured.

The fellow traders took him to Rowmari Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Confirming the matter, BGB-35 Battalion commanding officer Lt Col Abdul Awal said a letter was sent to the BSF protesting the incident.
