Schoolgirl saved from child marriage in Mirzapur

A schoolgirl has been saved from child marriage in Mirzapuri upazila in Tangaildistrict.

The upazila assistant commissioner (land) and executive magistrate Md Zubair Hossain stopped the marriage of Jayonto Moni Das, a eighth grader of a local school and daughter of Bhashan Moni Das of Kanthalia village, conducting a drive there on Wednesday morning.

He paved the way for her to continue her study.

The mobile court of  executive magistrat Zubair fined the daughter's father Tk 40,000 and took undertaking from him that he would not marry off his daughter before she turns 18, our local correspondent reports.
