AL candidate Habib Hasan optimistic about his victory

Awami League (AL) backed candidate Mohammad Habib Hasan is optimistic about his victory in today's by-election to Dhaka-18 constituency.

"I am optimistic about my victory and will accept the result what will be. Today is the most joyful day in our life. I'm grateful to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as she nominated me like grassroots insignificant activist, " the AL candidate said these to media after casting his vote at I. E. S School and College in Dhaka's Uttara on Thursday morning.

His family members also accompanied him at that time.

The presence of voters will be increased as the day progressed, he added.

A total of six candidates are contesting in Dhaka-18 constituency which began around 9am on Thursday amid tight security.

The other five candidates are BNP nominated SM Jahangir Hossain, Jatiya Party nominated Mohammad Nasir Uddin Sarkar, Mohammad Omar Faruque of Bangladesh Congress, Kazi Mohammad Shahidullah of Gonofront and Mohammad Mahibullah Bahar of PDP.
