A murder case has been filed with Adabor Police Station over the death of assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Anisul Karim Shipon at a private hospital in Dhaka.
The victim's father Faizuddin Ahmed lodged the case early Tuesday accusing some 15 people, inspector Md Faruk Mollah confirmed.
Shipon worked as the assistant commissioner of Barishal Metropolitan Police's traffic department. He came his Gazipur home on Monday morning.
His elder brother Rezaul Karim said after coming home, they taken Anisul to Mind Aid Hospital in city's Adabor area for treatment as he had been suffering from mental illness. Some employees of the hospital took him to the first floor the hospital. Few minutes later, they informed him that Anisul Karim became senseless. Then, he was rushed to National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases where the on-duty doctors declared Anisul dead.
Police collected footage from CCTV camera of the Mind Aid where they found that some people dragging Anisul and beating him up.
Rezaul Karim alleged that his brother was killed by the staff of the Mind Aid Hospital.
Harun-or-Rashid, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said they are scrutinising the CCTV footage.
"Investigations are going on and action will be taken. Seven people, including the manager of the hospital, have been detained in this connection," he added.
Meanwhile, Anisul Karim Shipon was laid to rest at the central graveyard of Gazipur city after a namaz-e-janaza at Bhawal Rajbari field on Tuesday morning.
