A Kushtia court on Thursday sentenced a youth to jail until death in a case filed for violating a schoolgirl after kidnap.
Kushtia District and Sessions Judge Munshi Md Moshiar Rahman pronounced the verdict in absence of the convict Yasin Mollah of Jhenidah.
The court also fined Yasin Tk 1.5 lakh and gave another 14 years imprisonment for kidnapping the girl. In default, the convict will have to suffer nine months more in jail.
According to the case statement, on September 15, 2019, Yasin and some of his accomplices picked up the victim girl, an eighth grader, in front of Bahadurpur Mafer Ali Secondary School gate in Bheramara upazila.
Later on September 21, the victim's mother filed a case.
After one month of abduction, police rescued he girl from the house of Yasin's sister in Jhenidah. They also arrested Yasin from there.
But he has been absconding after getting bail in the case.
