54 fishermen held in Shibchar for fishing hilsa

A mobile court in a drive early Monday detained 54 fishermen in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur district for defying ban on hilsa fishing in the River Padma.

The mobile court, led by assistant commissioner (land) Rakibul Hasan, also seized 1.50 lakh meter current net and 10 kgs of hilsa. 

Later, the seized net were destroyed and the fishes were distributed to difefrent orphanage.

Madaripur Fisheries Officer Ripon Kanti Ghosh confirmed the matter.
