C-BED programme launched in Bangladesh

Community-Based Enterprise Development (C-BED) has started its journey in Bangladesh.

The programme will be held entirely online to ensure the programme’s mentors, partners, and participants’ health and safety amid coronavirus pandemic.
C-BED Bangladesh country coordinator Masudur Rahaman arranged the orientation programme online which was funded by Kazuko Bhuiyan Welfare Trust in association with Intradoc International.

Youth International Support Association (YISA) will support the tools of the virtual class while Advanced Integrated Studies in Human Survivability (AISIMAS) impact center Kyoto will provide the technical support for the fundraising from Japan.

Five students from a diverse background will attend eight-week long mini MBA programme.

Charles Bodwell, enterprises development officer of ILO, Akira Kawasaki, junior enterprise development officer of ILO, Cong Xu of Kyoto University in Japan, Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan (Jun), trustee of Kazuko Bhuiyan Welfare Trust, Taizo Yokoyama, director of YISA,  Sabbir Hasan, CEO of InTraDoc International, Yurika Bhuiyan, moderator of C-BED Bangladesh, and Maksuda Sonia, moderator C-BED Bangladesh were present in the programme.

C-BED is already ongoing in more than a dozen countries, including Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. C-BED tools have been taken up by governments, trade unions, business associations, and NGOs.

Akira Kawasaki said, “I expect that Bangladeshi Community will be able to add more value to this community-based traininginterms of scale and quality.”

Welcoming the C-BED program students, Charles Bodwell said  it is great to see the C-BED programme get a foothold in Bangladesh, supporting entrepreneurship, business creation and sustainable ideas, all with the help of the ILO’s activity-based learning model."

The C-BED Bangladesh main programme will start on January 1, 2021.
