Veteran journalist Abul Hasnat no more



Veteran journalist Abul Hasnat passed away at a hospital in the capital on Sunday morning.

Hasnat, editor of 'Kali O Kolom', a popular monthly magazine, breathed his last at about 8am after suffered a cardiac arrest at Anwar Khan Modern Medical College Hospital while underwent treatment.

Jatiyo Kobita Parishad's general secretary Tariq Sujat confirmed the news.

Abul Hasnat had been admitted to the hospital since September 15 as he was suffering from lung infection. But his coronavirus report came negative.

He will be laid to eternal rest at Martyred Intellectuals' Graveyard following his namaz-e-janaza after Asr prayer.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of the renowned litterateur and journalist.

In a condolence message, she said the nation will always remember the contribution of Hasnat in country’s progressive and cultural practices.

The prime minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.

Hasnat had also written stories and poems. He received Bangla Academy award in 2013.
