Indian High Commissioner calls on LGRD minister

Indian High Commissioner Vikram Kumar Doraiswami on Thursday paid a courtesy call on Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) minister Md Tajul Islam in the latter's office at the secretariat in Dhaka.

The newly appointed Indian High Commissioner Vikram Kumar Doraiswami on Thursday paid a courtesy call on Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) minister Md Tajul Islam in the latter's office at the secretariat in Dhaka.

During the meeting, they discussed several mutual interest related issues, a press release said.

The minister recalled the support of the Indian government and its people during the 1971’s war of liberation.

Tajul said the foundation of India's relationship with Bangladesh was laid by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and it is now being maintained by his worthy daughter, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
