The authorities at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) have expelled two students on allegation of defaming Islamic religion and Prophet Muhammad (SM).

The expelled students are Pratik Mazumder, of Environmental Science and Disaster Management, and Dipta Paul, of Pharmacy, students of session 2017-2018 in the university.

The decision was taken following an emergency meeting of the university's disciplinary board.

According to the county's law it is a punishable offence. As a result, they were temporary expelled and their hall seats werecancelled.

They were also asked to submit a report to NSTU register before November 2, explaining why they should not be expelled and sued under the Digital Security Act.
