Erfan Salim, the suspended councilor of ward no 30 of Dhaka South City Corporation, and his bodyguard Md Zahid have been placed on a three-day remand each in a case filed over assaulting a navy official in the capital.
Dhaka's Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor passed the remand order after holding a hearing on Wednesday.
A team of the elite force detained Erfan from his father’s residence at Swarighat in city's old part on Monday night following a case filed with Dhanmondi Police Station by Lieutenant Wasif Ahmed Khan of Bangladesh Navy for assaulting him.
A RAB's mobile court sentenced him and his bodyguard Zahid to one year in jail in two separate cases--one under the Arms Act and another under Narcotics Control Act.
Earlier on Tuesday, Dhanmondi police inspector Ashfaque Razib, also the IO of the cases, submitted remand prayer for the duo.
