Derailment halts Khulna's rail link with other parts

The train services of Khulna with other parts were halted since early Tuesday following a derailment at Safdalpur Railway Station under Kotchandpur upazila of Jhenidah.

The accident took place around 2:30am.

A oil-laden train collided head-on with a goods-laden one as both the vehicles entered the same line defying signal, said the station master Golam Mostafa.

As a result, engines of the trains and rail line were damaged, suspending the rail communication.

A relief train from Ishwardi started salvation work.
