Man held for vandalising idol in Joypurhat



Police detained a man in Gulshan area of Joypurhat district town on charge of vandalising idols of Hindu gods and goddesses at a puja mandap.

Detained Prince, 37, is a resident in the area.
Locals alleged that Prince entered the mandap and started vandalising idols when devotees were preparing for the immersion of goddess Durga around 12 noon on Monday at the end of Vijaya Dashami celebration.

Sadar Police Station OC AKM Alamgir Jahan said on information, police went to the spot and detained Prince while fleeing the scene.

Superintendent of Joypurhat Police Mohammad Salam Kabir said Prince was being questioned in the DB office.
