Man hacked dead in Meherpur

A gang of miscreants hacked a man to death in Meherpur district town on Thursday night.

Deceased Faruk Ahmed, 35, a resident of the area, was an employee of city social service office.

The incident took place near Sadar Police Station around 11:30 pm.

Superintendent of Meherpur Police SM Murad Ali said Faruk was returning home after having tea from a shop at Thana Para around 11:30 pm.

Later, miscreants hacked him indiscriminately with sharp weapons and fled away, leaving him critically injured.

Locals rushed him to Meherpur General Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

A police hunt is on to detain the accused.
