No security threat to Durga Puja: RAB DG

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) continues to keep a close watch across the country to ensure security during the Durga Puja.

According to intelligence reports, there is no possibility of any kind of sabotage in this year's Durga Puja, said RAB Director General Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun on Thursday.
He said that RAB is ready to deal with any situation for ensuring security of the puja mandaps.

He was talking to media after inspecting overall security situation at the Banani Puja Mandap in the capital on Thursday afternoon.

Mentioning that there are enough RAB members deployed all over the country for the puja, he said, "We're working to ensure all kinds of security on the occasion of Durga Puja. RAB's Bomb Disposal Unit, Dog Squad and Sweeping Teams are standby at all times."

"The Durga Puja, which started on October 21, will end on October 26 with Bijaya Dashmi. This time the whole world is going through a pandemic. So we hope everyone will be careful about hygiene at the event. This time, even though the puja is organized in a limited range in different contexts, we are ready to ensure the overall security; we are by your side all the time," he said.

The RAB chief said that the air wing of RAB is ready on the occasion of Durga Puja. RAB patrolling and intelligence surveillance will continue around the puja mandapas across the country. The RAB's Quick Response Team will be ready with extra surveillance in metropolitan areas and district cities.
