Miscreants have slaughtered an Awami League activist and a former UP member after cutting off his hands and legs' tendons in Shibganj upazila of Bogura.

Police recovered the body of Mostafizur Rahman Mosta,52, former member of ward 9 under Sadar union, from the bank of a pond near his house at Jahangirabad village on Wednesday morning.

Confirming the matter, ASP (Shibganj circle) Ariful Islam Siddiqi said the reason behind the killing could not be known yet.

He might have been killed sometime at night. Locals spotted the body in the morning and informed police.
Locals said once Mostafizur was an accused of a number of cases including of mugging, robbery and smuggling.

But, later he started sand trading giving up underworld activities, they added.

Our Bogura correspondent adds: Police have detained three persons for interrogation.

They are: Jaruhul Islam, guard of the pond from where the body was found, Abul Kalam and another one.
