Newlywed bride 'hacks' husband in sleep



A newly-wed bride has reportedly injured her husband critically by hacking him in sleep in Sirajganj district, three days after her marriage.

The incident took place at Ramgati area of Sirajganj municipality on Monday night.

Injured Abu Hanif was, first, taken to at Sirajganj 250-Bed Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital and, later, shifted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZMCH).

The physicians at the hospital said his condition is critical.

Locals said Hanif and Tahmina got married on Friday last.

Tahmina mixed sleeping pills with water. Later, Hanif drank that and fell asleep.

She tied Hanif’s hands and legs, and hacked him.

Tahmina also cut his fingers and injury marks were found on his head.

Later, family members sensed the matter and rescued him to the hospital.

Police, however, detained Tahmina.
