Godagari College principal sent to jail in graft case
A Rajshahi court on Monday ordered to send Godagari Govt College principal Abdur Rahman to jail in a graft case.
District and Sessions Judge Meer Shahiqul Islam passed the order rejecting his bail prayer.
ACC Rajshahi integrated district office deputy director Jahangir Alam confirmed media about the matter.
He said the the anti-graft body had submitted a charge-sheet against the principal. But, he was on the run.
Principal Abdur Rahman appeared before the court on Monday and submitted a petition seeking bail.
The court, however, rejected his bail prayer and sent him to jail, said the AC official.
In 2018, Godagari College vice principal Umrul Haque filed the case against the principal with a court last year.
Taking the case into cognisance, the court asked the ACC integrated district office assistant director Alamgir Hossain to investigate into the allegation.
It is also alleged that Abdur Rahman reinstated the job of his brother-in-law in the college despite he was working in a government primary school.
Besides, he allegedly took 9 lakh bribe from one Tarek Aziz for recruiting him as lecturer in Psychology dept and Tk 8 lakh from one Monirul Islam for appointing him as lecturer in Bangla Dept.
