NSU students confine VC demanding waiver of tuition fees

Students of North South University (NSU) on Sunday confined the vice-chancellor, teachers and other staff for three hours to press home their six-point demands including waiver of tuition fees .
The agitating students begun their protest in the morning and continued it till 7.30pm on the campus at Bashundhara residential area in Dhaka.
They first staged sit-in programme on the campus and later, started demonstration confining the vice-chancellor, teachers and other staff of the university in the afternoon.
The students said they will resume their demonstration on the campus at 10.00 am on Monday.
Agitators said the university authorities had decided to waive 20% tuition fees last semester amid the coronavirus pandemic. However, they then cancelled the waiver facility without any notice, even though the pandemic is on.
Five representatives from the agitating students met the VC in the afternoon where he refused to accept the demands placed by them, said students.
