Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has greeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the occasion of coming holy Durga Puja.
She also sent some gifts to Banerjee.
The gifts were sent to the West Bengal through the Benapole checkpost in Jashore early Sunday (October 18). Deputy High Commissioner of the Bangladesh High Commission in Kolkata took the gifts to the West Bengal Chief Minister's office at 'Nabanna' in the evening.
Benapole Checkpost C&F agent Mostafizur Rahman Rubel said the gifts sent by the Prime Minister to the West Bengal Chief Minister handed over to Petrapole Checkpost through Benapole Checkpost at about 12:00 noon.
The gifts were sent in two cartons which were sealed off.
Benapole Immigration Checkpost officer-in-charge (OC) Ahsan Habib said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's gifts were sent to Benapole Port by Ataur Rahman, Chief Protocol Officer at the Prime Minister's Office in Dhaka. In order to receive the gifts, Alam Hossain, assistant to the First Secretary of the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, was present at Petrapole.
Deputy High Commissioner (Political) BM Jamal Hossain of Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, told local journalists that the two cartons of gifts sent by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were handed over to the West Bengal Chief Minister's Office in the evening.
