TCB to sell potato at Tk 25 per kg

State-owned Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will start selling potato at Tk 25 per kilogram by three days, informed Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi.
The minister came up with announcement after a meeting held with cold storage owners, depot owners and wholesalers at the Commerce Ministry on Sunday.
"The price of potato fixed at three levels by the Department of Agricultural Marketing will be implemented strictly," he said.
Earlier, the DAM has set the maximum retail price of the essential vegetable at Tk 30 a kg, Tk 25 at wholesale market and Tk 23 at the cold storage gate.
It is the DAM which is responsible to monitor market rate, find out the reason behind the ups and down of price and to advise the government for keeping the market stable, Tipu Minshi said.
"Considering the matter, they (DAM) gave us an advise. Our job is to see the interest of the consumers. We sat today for talks to decide the matter," the minister added.
Expressing hope that the pressure on potato consumption will be reduced once the winter vegetables available in market soon.
