BNP on Sunday rejected the results of just concluded by-elections in Pabna-4, Dhaka-5 and Naogaon-6 constituencies of parliament.
The party also announced a two-day demonstration programme for October 19 and 20 protesting against what it said the massive rigging and other irregularities in the by-polls.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the programme at the party chairperson’s Gulshan office at noon. The decision came following a virtual meeting of the party's standing committee members with acting chairperson Tarique Rahman in the chair.
Blaming the Awami League for resorting to widespread rigging and forgery in the by-polls, the top BNP leader said, “The ruling party made an environment of terror after beating and driving out BNP polling agents from the polling centers. Election Commission manipulated the polls results through EVMs to declare Awami League candidates winners."
Fakhrul rejected the results and asked the Election Commission for arranging re-election in three seats.
The Election Commission is acting as the loyal puppet of the government, he alleged.
