Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury Nixon, lawmaker from Faridpur-4, on Sunday sought anticipatory bail from the High Court in a case filed against him for violating the electoral code of conduct during the local polls.
An HC bench of Justices Sheikh Md Jakir Hossain and KM Jahid Sarwar Kajol fixed Tuesday for holding hearing on the bail petition.
Lawyer Shahdin Malik was present in the dock on behalf of Nixon.
On October 15, Nawabul Islam, a senior election official, filed a case against Mujibur Rahman with Charbhadrasan Police Station.
Earlier, Faridpur DC Atul Sarkar sent a letter to the Cabinet Division making allegations of serious misconduct against him and other local administration officials by Nixon Chowdhury MP.
In his complaint, the DC stated that the lawmaker threatened him over the arrest of his supporters during the Charbhadrasan Upazila Parishad by-election.
Meanwhile, Nixon Chowdhury MP, in a press conference on October 13, denied the allegations against him saying the audio clip where he is heard threatening the Faridpur DC over the arrest of his supporters during the Charbhadrasan Upazila Parishad by-polls was 'super edited.'
He said an edited version of the phone conversation between him and the UNO was sweeping the internet.
