The 32nd span of the Padma Bridge was installed on Sunday.

The span was installed on the fourth and fifth pillars at Mawa end in Munshiganj at 9:30am. Now, a total of 4,800 kilometres of the structure has become visible.

The span could not be installed on Saturday due to heavy current in the river.

On June 10 last, the 31st span of the Padma Bridge was installed bringing a total of 4.650 kilometres of the structure into view.

The 6.15km-long bridge will have a total of 41 spans.

The 32nd span was scheduled to be installed on June 24 but the installation work was suspended following flood and rise of river water level.

With the initiatives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the construction work of the Padma Bridge began in December, 2014, with own fund.
